As i walked in being the fashion correspondent of the town, Bangalore welcomed the winter chill and of course us with the best of Jazz & blues music, which was historical in more ways than one. It seemed like the perfect setting of winter, as the nippy weather blended finely with the music and Black Dog scotch in the sprawling heritage ambience of the Jayamahal palace Hotel.
The festival kicked off on 1st Dec with some of Bangalore’s well known, Barracuda Blues Band, who sang some of their own compositions among covers of Muddy Waters and Paul Butterfield. The French trio from Pondicherry – Matt Littlewood trio brought in some subtle jazz. Jazz funk band Junckt, form Mumbai brought some energetic numbers with the mellifluous flute play by Rajeev Raja. Besides, Moon Arra and Global Unity brought in a grand series of jazz, for bangaloreans. The second day of jazz series was more enthralling with International performances of Chronic Blues Circus, Konarak Reddy and Bob Bonastre – France, Gerard Machado Network, Café Du Sport – Germany, Amit Heri Group and last but not the least, Kaya Quartet. The evening was promising to get even better when guitarist Konarak Reddy teamed up French guitarist Bob Bonastre who brought in the beautiful blend of individual styles – Indian & European. Radha Thomas, the host of Indigo & Blues, the jazz & blues show on Radio Indigo and a popular jazz artiste herself stole the show with her intoxicating vocals and the Max Mueller Bhavan gave a flourishing performance with their saxophone play. They gave the audience a taste of cool jazz, soul jazz and jazz funk, with the essential jazz flavour. It all rocked till the end!!
